GoHighLevel hidden costs: the real 2026 monthly bill
GoHighLevel starts at $97 a month, then SMS, email, AI and A2P fees land on top. Here is the real monthly bill and how to keep the usage side low.

GoHighLevel's sticker price is $97, $297, or $497 a month, and every one of those numbers is only half the bill. The other half is usage: SMS, voice minutes, email, A2P registration, and now AI, all billed on top of the plan from a wallet that refills itself. For a single active business, budget roughly $10 to $30 a month in usage on top of the plan. So the honest all-in for one busy Starter account is closer to $110 to $130 a month, not $97. Here is exactly where the extra lands, checked July 2026, and how to keep it small.
The sticker price
Three plans, and the base rates did not go up for 2026. Unlimited contacts and unlimited users on all three, so there is no per-seat or per-contact creep. Annual billing knocks off roughly 17%.
| Plan | Monthly | Annual (per mo) | Who it is for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $97 | ~$80 | One or two businesses, no reselling |
| Unlimited | $297 | ~$247 | Unlimited sub-accounts, rebill at cost |
| Agency Pro | $497 | ~$414 | Resellers who want to mark up usage |
That table is the part everyone quotes. The next three sections are the part that shows up on the card and catches people out.
What the sticker leaves out
The plan buys you the software. It does not buy you a single text message. GoHighLevel runs communications through its own layer, LC Phone and LC Email, and meters every action against a prepaid wallet. When the balance drops below your minimum, it charges your card to refill. That auto-refill is why the usage bill feels invisible until you read the statement.
Here are the per-unit costs for US and Canada, which already include the automatic 10% regional discount HighLevel applies.
| Item | Cost | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| SMS segment | ~$0.0075 | Before carrier fees. Real cost lands nearer $0.015 once carrier surcharges stack |
| Outbound voice | ~$0.0166 / min | Inbound is a little cheaper, around $0.0117 / min |
| Local number | $1.15 / month | Per number you rent |
| Toll-free number | $2.15 / month | Per number |
| Email sent | $0.675 / 1,000 | Roughly two-thirds of a cent per thousand |
| Email validation | $2.50 / 1,000 | Optional, for list cleaning |
| Premium workflow action | $0.01 / execution | Only on premium triggers and actions |
Two things worth flagging. First, an SMS "segment" is not a message. A text over 160 characters (or one with an emoji) splits into multiple segments, and you pay per segment, so a chatty template quietly doubles its own cost. Second, that headline sub-cent SMS rate is the LC Phone base. Once US carrier fees are added, the real all-in cost per segment for a registered sender is closer to a cent and a half. Still cheap. Just not the number on the pricing table.
A2P registration, the one-time cost nobody warns you about
If you send SMS to US numbers, you cannot skip A2P 10DLC registration. It is a carrier requirement, not a GoHighLevel one, but you pay it through GoHighLevel. Two pieces:
- Brand registration: a one-time fee of around $4 to register your business with the carriers.
- Campaign registration: up to about $23 one-time for a standard low-volume campaign (that figure includes a $3 fast-track fee), then a recurring $1.50 to $10.50 a month per campaign depending on the use case.
There is one piece of good news here. As of February 1, 2026, campaign resubmissions are free. The old $15 fee for resubmitting a rejected campaign is gone, so the trial-and-error of getting approved no longer costs you each attempt. Budget the one-time setup, expect a few days of back-and-forth, and do not send a single marketing text until the campaign is approved, because unregistered traffic gets filtered hard.
AI Employee, the newest line item
The AI features (the conversational booking bot, Voice AI, content and workflow AI) are the fastest-growing part of the bill because they are new and easy to switch on without thinking about cost. There are three ways to pay:
- Pay-per-use: token-based, no monthly fee. Fine while you are testing.
- AI Employee Growth: $50 a month per enabled location.
- AI Employee Unlimited: $97 a month per enabled location.
The trap is the pay-per-use path at scale. Tokens feel free until a busy chatbot handles a few hundred conversations, at which point the flat $50 or $97 per location would have been cheaper. And one detail people miss: even on AI Employee Unlimited, phone charges still apply to Voice AI calls. The AI plan covers the intelligence, not the minutes the call burns. So a Voice AI answering service is two costs stacked, the AI subscription and the per-minute voice usage underneath it.
What a real monthly bill looks like
Put it together for one active local business on the Starter plan, sending follow-ups and reminders but not blasting a huge list:
- Plan: $97
- One local number: $1.15
- SMS and voice usage for steady follow-up: roughly $10 to $20
- Email for a modest list: a dollar or two
- A2P campaign monthly fee: a few dollars
That lands most single-location accounts around $110 to $130 a month all in, which matches both public reports and our testing. The number climbs fast in two situations: heavy SMS marketing to a large list, and AI features left on across many sub-accounts. Neither is a hidden fee exactly. They are just usage that scales with how much you actually use the platform, and that is the part the $97 headline hides.
The single biggest lever on that usage bill is how you build your automations. A set of tight workflows that send fewer, sharper messages costs a fraction of a sequence that texts someone nine times, and it converts better anyway. Before you send anything to a real list, get your email deliverability setup right too, because bounced and spam-filtered sends still cost you and can drag your sender reputation down with them.
If you run an agency, rebilling changes the math
For resellers, the usage bill is not a cost. It is a product. GoHighLevel lets you pass usage on to your clients, and on the right plan you can add your own markup.
- Unlimited ($297): rebill usage to clients at cost. You recover what you spend, no margin on usage itself.
- Agency Pro ($497): rebill with your own markup. This is the plan where SMS, email, and AI usage become a revenue line instead of an expense.
The rebilling markup is why so many agencies jump to the $497 tier even before they have the client count to justify it. If a client burns $24 a month in usage and you rebill at a 50% markup, that is about $12 a month of margin per client on top of whatever you charge for the software itself. Across twenty sub-accounts, the usage you were worried about turns into the thing that pays for the plan. That only works on Agency Pro, so if reselling is the plan, the $497 tier usually pays for itself faster than the $297 one.
Which plan by situation
- You run one or two of your own businesses: Starter at $97. You do not need sub-accounts or rebilling. Budget an extra $10 to $30 for usage and you are done.
- You manage several businesses and want to recover costs: Unlimited at $297 for unlimited sub-accounts and rebilling at cost.
- You are building an agency and want usage to be a profit center: Agency Pro at $497, purely for rebilling with markup and the SaaS reselling tools.

Cap the usage bill before it starts
The honest verdict
GoHighLevel does not really have hidden costs so much as unstated ones. The plan fee is honest and flat. The usage is real, meters against a wallet you rarely look at, and scales with how hard you push the platform. For most single businesses that is $10 to $30 a month on top of the plan, which is a fair price for replacing four or five separate subscriptions. For agencies, the same usage flips into margin on the $497 plan. Go in knowing the wallet exists, build lean automations, and the bill stays boring. That is the whole trick. Pricing and usage rates checked July 2026 against HighLevel's official billing docs.

Frequently asked questions
How much does GoHighLevel really cost per month?
The plan is $97, $297, or $497 a month. On top of that, most single-location accounts run roughly $10 to $30 a month in SMS, email, and AI usage. So a realistic all-in figure for one active business is about $110 to $130 a month on the Starter plan.
Is GoHighLevel usage billed on top of the subscription?
Yes. Every SMS segment, voice minute, email, and metered AI action is drawn from a prepaid wallet that tops up automatically. None of it is included in the plan fee, which is where the surprise on the first invoice comes from.
What are the A2P 10DLC fees in GoHighLevel?
US SMS senders must register a brand (around $4 one-time) and a campaign (up to about $23 one-time for low volume, plus $1.50 to $10.50 a month per campaign). As of February 1, 2026, campaign resubmissions are free after the fix, where they used to cost $15.
Can I mark up GoHighLevel usage and rebill clients?
Rebilling usage at cost is available on the $297 and $497 plans. Rebilling with your own markup on top is only available on the $497 Agency Pro plan, which is how agencies turn SMS and AI usage into margin.
